Kendrick Lamar lidera indicações ao Grammy; dois brasileiros concorrem

O artista de hip-hop californiano Kendrick Lamar liderou as indicações ao prêmio Grammy nesta segunda-feira (7) ao ser lembrado em 11 categorias, incluindo a de melhor álbum do ano para “To Pimp a Butterfly”. Dois brasileiros estão entre os indicados: Gilberto Gil, que concorre a melhor álbum estrangeiro com “Gilbertos Samba ao Vivo” e Eliane Elias, indicada a melhor álbum de jazz latino com “Made in Brazil”.

Lamar, de 28 anos e natural da cidade de Compton, coração da cena rap de Los Angeles, deixou a estrela do country-pop Taylor Swift bem atrás com sete indicações à maior premiação da indústria musical.

O rapper canadense The Weeknd recebeu o mesmo número de menções na esteira do sucesso do disco “Beauty Behind the Madness” e da canção “Can’t Feel My Face” este ano.

Lamar, que conquistou dois Grammys em 2014 na categoria especial rap, chamou a atenção do grande público em 2015 e foi indicado à principal estatueta da noite. Ele ainda irá competir ao troféu de canção do ano com “Alright”, melhor duo pop com Taylor em “Bad Blood” e melhor vídeo com a mesma canção.

“To Pimp a Butterfly”, seu terceiro disco de estúdio, alcançou o topo das paradas nos Estados Unidos e na Grã-Bretanha com sua fusão de funk, jazz e poesia.

Lamar irá disputar o prêmio de álbum do ano com “‘1989”, de Taylor Swift, “Beauty Behind the Madness”, do The Weeknd, “Traveller”, do cantor country Chris Stapleton, e “Sand & Color”, da banda de rock Alabama Shakes.

Competindo na categoria de melhor artista novo estão Meghan Trainor, autora do hit “All About the Bass”, o cantor country Sam Hunt, o cantor e compositor britânico James Bay, a norte-americana Tori Kelly e a australiana Courtney Barnett.

A britânica Adele não concorreu este ano porque seu novo disco, “25”, foi lançado tarde demais para ser incluído na competição. A cerimônia do Grammy irá acontecer em Los Angeles no dia 15 de fevereiro do próximo ano.
