A day of highs and lows for Bolsonaro

Good evening,

It’s a common day for President Jair Bolsonaro and his roller-coasterish style. Here Time magazine mentions him as one of the one hundred most influential people in the world, there truck drives call his measures for the industry a mere handout. As New York mayor insults him on Twitter, the influential president grants Arnold Schwarzenegger a certificate of acknowledgment. Meanwhile, PSDB tries to regain some respect and hires a polling institute to change its name. Are the toucans tired of their cumbersome beak? In France, a tired soccer magazine wants to create controversy with a kiss between Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi. Also, in France, a video game will be used on the rebuilding of the Notre-Dame Cathedral.

Take a look at our highlights.

A day of highs and lows for Bolsonaro

President Jair Bolsonaro was mentioned by Time magazine as one of the one hundred most influential people in the world. The list is not made in a particular order, so it’s impossible to say whether he is in the 1st or 99th place. At the same time, this oh-so-influential person is not able to control truck drivers who are unhappy with the measures announced to the industry. Finally, Bolsonaro was called “a dangerous man” on Twitter by New York Mayor Bill de Blasio.

PSDB wants to change its name and to position itself as a center party

PSDB, former president Fernando Henrique Cardoso’s party, has hired a polling institute to study the possibility of changing its name. The idea would be to change the party’s image, stained by the involvement of some top figures in Operation Car Wash. Another goal would be to firmly position the alliance in the political spectrum as a center party. The poll was confirmed by São Paulo governor João Dória.

Frota gives Arnold Schwarzenegger official diploma issued by Bolsonaro

President Jair Bolsonaro, an outspoken fan of American Republican politicians, has honored actor and California former governor Arnold Schwarzenegger with a “certificate of acknowledgment.” The diploma was given to the actor on Saturday 13th, by federal representative Alexandre Frota. Professional bodybuilder Schwarzenegger had been in São Paulo for a bodybuilding event. He also met with São Paulo governor João Dória.

French magazine shows Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi kissing on the mouth

The traditional soccer magazine France Football plastered on its cover the tiresome controversy of the last decade or so: who is the better player, Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi? It would be a regular or even boring cover, if it wasn’t for the picture chosen by the editors: a drawing of Messi on his toes kissing Cristiano Ronaldo on the mouth. In fact, it’s an old image, created by Italian artist Tvboy and graffitied in Barcelona. It’s entitled “Love is blind.”

French government starts planning Notre-Dame’s reconstruction

The French government has announced a billionaire plan to rebuild the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris. One day after the fire, almost US$3 billion would have been raised, mainly from big companies and wealthy donors. Interestingly enough, a video game may be used in the renovation: Assassin’s Creed. The 3D mapping technique used by Ubisoft would be essential for the detailed reconstruction of the building.

Until tomorrow, good evening.
