Galvão’s criticism of “Titese” and unusual man of the match are highlights of national squad’s friendly match

Galvão’s criticism of “Titese” and unusual man of the match are highlights of national squad’s friendly match

Even though the national squad won by 3 to 1, Galvão made a demand to the Brazilian commander: “Be simple in your press conference today, Tite”

TV Globo’s sportscaster Galvão Bueno did not spare the Brazilian national team coach, Tite, during the broadcast of Brazil’s friendly against the Czech Republic on Tuesday (26) afternoon. Even though the national squad won by 3 to 1, Galvão made a demand to the Brazilian commander: “Be simple in your press conference today, Tite.”

The criticism came right after Tite’s press conference following the 1 to 1 tie against Panama. The coach made excessive use of difficult terms, rarely used by other coaches, and sparked controversy by using a language that has been nicknamed “Titese” in the social media. Galvão also fired against Tite during the broadcast.

“Be a soccer coach once again. The Tite that spoke plainly, the Tite that spoke directly, the Tite that we once applauded during his first press conference. This thing about speaking in some sort of strange preaching we can’t understand, words that don’t even exist. A package of wrapped words that has nothing to do with you,” criticized the sportscaster.

During the beginning of the second half, Galvão kept criticizing the terms used by the coach, but also spoke about the situation of his command of the team, while Brazil was still behind the score. “He is tripping on these sentences and explanations, but he has always been a coach who got good results, he knows things aren’t going well.”

Tight spot

During the broadcast, Rede Globo held an online voting poll to elect the man of the match. On Twitter, spectators campaigned for Czech goalkeeper Ondřej Kúdela, waiting for Galvão’s reaction when he read his name. With 28.30 percent of the votes, the player won the poll.

In a good mood, Galvão acknowledged the internet prank and joked with the result. After disclosing the winner, the sportscaster said, informally: “You thought I was going to mispronounce it, right? The good humor won.”

This was the last national team call-up before the 2019 Copa América. On May 17, Tite will list the players who will play on the next FIFA date (June 6-11), which will already be followed by the beginning of the competition (June 14), to be held in Brazil.
